According to Merleau-Ponty in his Phenomenology of Perception, we experience time as a “field presence.” In words, “It is my ‘field presence’ the widest sense […] that I make contact with time, and learn know its course.” This field fundamental. It elucidates spatial apprehension. words: “Perception provides me broad sense, extending two dimensions: here-there dimension past-present-future dimension. The second first.” other understand “here-there” terms temporal “there” what immediately grasp still having hand “the immediate past.” this article, propose examine general conception presence. examination can be seen kind “thought experiment,” where see happens when reverse relation—i.e., elucidate “past-present-future dimension” “here-there dimension.” Such reversal, will argue, brings fore pragmatic, character lived time. Not only does it bring about revision horizonal structure presence, also has consequences for psycho-analytical research.
